Early days ...
My primary school didn't have a library. Each class had a small bookshelf. Every two weeks we went to the town library on the bus to borrow books. My favourite authors at that time were Enid Blyton, E. Nesbitt and Elizabeth Goudge. I also read fairy tales, fables, ghost stories and every book about ballet I could find. Ancient worlds, photography and film-making also interested me. In high school we did have a library and I started reading science fiction, biographies and mysteries. We studied the work of Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and Shakespeare in class.
When I'm not writing I like to ...
Walk along the seashore, read, do yoga, walk along the beach path, paint and draw.
These things make me smile ...
If you turned up at my house on a writing day you might think I had visitors because I read all my stories aloud to make sure they sound right ... and I might be dressed in my PJs ... or my bathers ... or my exercise gear if an idea has popped into my mind and I don't want to lose it.
