Nan says God hears? How can he if he has no ears, and without a proper tongue how can he speak to anyone? A little girl is full of questions about God and her mother answers them as they get ready and walk to kindy one morning.
Book story: When my younger daughter was small she asked me these interesting questions about God after a visit to her nanna and that gave me the idea for the book. Who Dresses God? was accepted by several publishers over the years but all sorts of things happened and it never came out. For a long time the story stayed filed away in my office while I wrote other books. My little girl who inspired it grew up and she is now a mum with children of her own. Now that it's finally published they have read the book and know it wouldn't exist if their mum hadn't asked me those questions.

Book story: This started out many years ago as a picture book for young readers but was never published. As time passed I gradually came up with the idea of making it into a book for older children and it was a lot of fun thinking up what had happened to Dad after he was sold and how Luke could rescue him. Luke is one of my favourite characters. While I was writing his story I often sat at my computer smiling about the way his mind worked.

Jessica's Dazzling Do-a-thon
ISBN 976-0-9806695-2-7
Published by Therapy Focus
http://www.therapyfocus.org.au
Jessica is tired of feeling like she doesn't fit in at school. She looks like other kids but doesn't sound like them. "You're special," says Mum. Jessica soon makes friends with other kids who are also different. When the school plans to hold a marathon to raise money for families who have lost their homes in a bushfire she suggests a "Do-a-thon" instead so those who can't run can still be included.
Book story: This special book is called a flip book and includes a story called Sunny the Sunflower's Journey by author Bevan McGuiness for younger readers. All the pictures for both stories were created by school children and all the money raised from sales of the book helps to improve the quality of life for children with a disability or learning disadvantage. One of my writer friends told me they were looking for a writer who could produce a story in a hurry and she thought I was just the person. I didn't think so but that same day I came up with Jessica's story while on my way to visit my dad.

Getting Rid of Wrinkles
ISBN 1-74164-052-0
Published by Blake Education
http://www.blake.com.au
Great Grandma Em is expecting a visit from her best friend Amelia, who was the town beauty before she went to America fifty years ago. Tessa has ten days to help Great Gran get rid of her wrinkles before Amelia arrives. She is full of ideas ... but will they work?
Book story: I had such fun writing this story. One morning I woke up with the idea and thought it would work as a picture book. When I couldn't find a publisher for it I turned it into a short story, which won a competition but still wasn't published. Then I decided it might work better as a chapter book ... it did. You can probably guess the lesson from this: if at first you don't succeed, keep trying.
